Teak is a hardwood that lasts for many years if looked after. With time it goes a lovely silver grey and only needs an occasional clean to remove algae, moss or lichens.
My sister had four walls of a really good quality shed, but no floor or roof.
The goal of this work was to adjust the height of toilet cubicles designed for adults to something more suitable for pre-school children. The client wanted something a bit more interesting than standard rectangular doors and dividers.
The client wanted a gate that preschool children could not climb over, could not reach the gate latch to open it, that would not trap their fingers between the gate and the posts, and could be painted to be used as a blackboard. The latch is high up on the right side of the gate.
Fix some cabinets and install a low sink for pre-school children
The client gave me some original period coat hooks that where covered in paint. I removed the paint, attached them to a board and then finished hooks and board with a couple of coats of boiled linseed oil.
When a patio was laid in front of these French windows, the ground level was raised too high, the brickwork was not repaired, the wrong mortar was used and the air brick was removed, all of which resulted in water rotting the end of the floor joists. I treated and repaired the josts, lowered the ground level to what it should be, replaced the brick work using lime mortar, installed a new cast iron air brick, repaired the timber rotten timbers of the door frame with epoxy resin, installed a new hardwood threshold and varnished with marine varnish.
I did this for myself. It's a french trunk that had been used for storing firewood. I just wanted to repair the lid, clean it up and finish it with bees wax. I could have stained the new wood to match the old and removed the rust and water stains, but I had limited time.
Large planter made from treated timber and lined on the inside to prevent rot.
