I charge £50 for the first hour. Each subsequent hour is charged at £30 per hour calculated to the nearest 15 minutes.
You can hire me for a whole day for £200, which is £60 less than a whole day charged at the hourly rate.

I usually work within roughly 10 miles of Peterborough, which includes Stamford, Market Deeping, Crowland, Whittlesey, Sawtry and Oundle. I can travel further if necessary, but there may be additional charges.
My preferred working hours are 9:00am til 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, but I can work weekends and evenings if necessary. Please be aware that at evenings and weekends it may not be possible to get hold of some materials, so a bit of forward planning is necessary. Working outside my normal working hours may incur an additional charge.

It is cheaper for you if I do as many jobs as possible in one visit, so make a list and send it to me. I will give you a rough estimate of how long I think it will take and you can then decide whether to book me at an hourly or daily rate.
Handymen do a very wide range of jobs which requires a wide range of tools and other bits. We can't carry everything needed for all occasions, which is why knowing what we will be doing ensures we don't leave something essential behind.
I'm happy to move things out of the way and then move them back, but it will save time if you do it. I will take as much care as possible to protect your belongings, but if you have fragile or expensive items, then I'd prefer you move them.
I will do all I can to prevent dust and mess and I will clean up after myself leaving your home or premises as I found it, but you can save time if you do it yourself.

My own dogs are always trying to steal my tools, my grandchildren are dangerously inquisitive and I wish I had eyes in the back of my head. Please think about how you will keep children and pets away from where I shall be working for their own safety.
Some jobs require alot of toing and froing to the outside so, if you want your front door kept locked shut a spare key is very handy. If you are not going to be on the premises for the whole of my visit, then it is very handy indeed.
Knowing where to shut the water supply and electricity off to the premises if I shall be doing any plumbing or electrical work.
Most trades are very cautious when using the materials supplied by the customer because we cannot be sure that they are fit for purpose. I guarantee my workmanship and the materials I supply, but any guarantee I give when I use your materials will be limited to my workmanship. (please see Terms and Conditions). This is not a way of exploiting the customer, it's to ensure that we can give a good service and save you money in the long term.
I charge for the time it takes me to order or or collect materials at the hourly rate you booked me at (hourly or daily). I will do this as efficiently as possible to keep the cost to a minimum.
I do give free written estimates based on a site visit and discussion with the customer, but this is usually for larger jobs. I don't often give quotations due to the nature of the work I do (limited information over the phone and mostly small jobs in places I never seen).
I do take your health and safety very seriously. I have a great deal of professional experience in Risk Assessment and implementing health and safety policies, as a manager of scientific laboratories and as a manager of maintenance in the child care industry. I can provide you with a formal risk assessment if required. I will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of others in any premises I work, by assessing and managing the risks associated with my work.
I will not take on work for which I do not have the skills or qualifications to complete to the standard you require.

There are other things I can legally do, and have done in my own home, but I would recommend that you get an electrician for these.
In general I work on my own and do not sub-contract. I may occasionally get assistance for heavy work.
